FAQ's
Frequently asked questions about our façade estimating services.
What is façade estimating?
Façade estimating is the process of assessing the costs associated with a building's external envelope, including materials, labour, plant, preliminaries, and overheads. It covers a wide range of systems, such as cladding, curtain walling, rainscreen façades, glazing, and architectural metalwork.
How long does a façade estimate take?
The timescale depends on the size and complexity of the project:
- A standard façade estimate can be completed within 3 to 7 working days
- Smaller schemes may be delivered in as little as 48–72 hours
- Larger commercial developments with multiple façade systems can take 7 to 10 working days
- Windows, doors and curtain walling can take up to 14 days
What information is required for a façade estimate?
To produce an accurate estimate, we typically require architectural drawings, elevations, sections, project specifications, tender documents, and any available structural information. The more comprehensive the documentation, the more detailed and reliable the estimate will be.
How accurate are professional façade estimates?
When based on complete and coordinated tender information, professional façade estimates can provide a high level of cost certainty. Accuracy is largely dependent on the quality and completeness of the information supplied, as well as the complexity of the project.
What is the difference between an estimate and a quotation?
An estimate provides an informed assessment of likely project costs based on the information available at the time. A quotation, by contrast, is a fixed commercial offer from a supplier or contractor to deliver a defined scope of work at an agreed price.
Which façade systems do you cover?
We provide estimating services across a full range of façade packages, including rainscreen cladding, render, brick slips, SFS, glazing, curtain walling, and bespoke architectural metalwork.
Can professional façade estimating improve tender success?
Accurate estimating helps ensure bids are both competitive and commercially viable. By identifying costs accurately from the outset, contractors and façade specialists can reduce risk, improve pricing confidence, and submit more robust tenders.
